Mijas – a town on the Costa del Sol with a population of nearly 65,000 inhabitants - lies north/west of Fuengirola just between Malaga City and Marbella. Mijas hotels fit perfectly into the landscape of the area, creating a unique atmosphere that you won't find in any other place.
It is split into two distinct areas: Mijas Pueblo, which is a beautiful Andalusian mountain village with white houses and a spectacular view over the Mediterranean, and Mijas Costa, a coastal resort next to Fuengirola.
Mijas Pueblo is a picturesque village that has been attracting tourists for many decades due to its traditional architecture, its cobbles streets and the calm ambience. The quaint village is perfect for a day trip, where one can take a tranquil walk through the narrow streets or have a ride on the famous local donkeys, finishing the tour in one of the marvellous restaurants with a panoramic view over the Costa del Sol. Another place of touristic interest in Mijas Pueblo is the bullring, which is more than 100 years old – posters in the streets usually announce the upcoming bullfights.
By contrast, Mijas Costa is a coastal town with 12km of excellent beaches, water sports and tourist facilities. Most of the tourists and foreign residents are Britons, which is why the pubs, restaurants and other food suppliers are geared to British tastes. The area is surrounded by a large number of upmarket residentials, all categories of hotels, first-class golf courses and amusements such as water parks or horse races.
Having arrived at Malaga, travellers can take a shuttle minibus from Malaga airport to Mijas in order to get to their destination.
