Malaga
Malaga is the capital of the homonymous province in the southern part of Spain on the Costa del Sol and Spain’s 6th biggest city with a population of approximately 600,000 inhabitants. It is roughly situated between Seville and Granada and easily accessible by plane, train or ship. There are many Malaga hotels, apartments and hostels, so you will easily find a place to stay. Apart from that, Malaga city possesses the second largest industrial port in Spain and an important production of textile and alimentary products.
Malaga is indeed a very fascinating city with a unique and eventful history, so that visitors can admire a great variety of interesting historic and cultural places. The most popular sights are probably the Moorish fortress Alcazaba/Gibralfaro, the Cathedral, the ample port as well as the prestigious street Calle Larios and the numerous museums. Beside the cultural attractions, Malaga also offers a large amount of leisure facilities, such as several high-quality beaches, a huge choice of bars, restaurants and bodegas around the city centre and various discotheques. The inhabitants of Malaga, called Malagueños, are well-known to enjoy these opulent possibilites to the full and they are in fact very proud of their home town, which can boast with world-famous citizens like Pablo Picasso and Antonio Banderas, not forgetting one of the biggest Semana Santa (Holy Week) events in Spain.
Tourists from abroad usually arrive at the local airport, so a comfortable and often used option is to take a shuttle bus from Malaga Airport to Malaga City.
