Granada
Granada, the capital of the homonymous province, is situated in the eastern part of Andalusia at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains only 100 km away from the Mediterranean Sea. The city has a population of nearly 250.000 inhabitants and offers a great diversity in its climate from sunny Mediterranean summers to rain and snow in winter. Staying at any of the Granada hotels is a good choice for those who want to visit Sierra Nevada, la Alhambra and the Costa Tropical in a short break.

Granada is also a popular university town with more than 60.000 students per year, which is about 25% of the total population. Needless to say, the high percentage of students in Granada makes the local atmosphere very cheerful and provides a very active nightlife each day of the week.
Granada’s history is one of the most fascinating of Spain because the town has been settled by Muslims for nearly 8 centuries and was the last Moorish stronghold to be recaptured by the Christians in 1492. This eventful history is still present in the town, for example in the form of the famous monuments Alhambra and Generalife (fortress and palace) or the zone Albaicin with its mixture of typical Mujahardin and Spanish architecture.
Obviously, the most important industrial sectors in Granada are agriculture and tourism. The numerous mountains in the province of Granada convert the area into a good location to produce olives, as it is one of the only agricultural products that can be cultivated on these conditions. In the part of Granada closer to the Mediterranean Sea, there is also a large cultivation of tobacco and sugar, but apart from the aforementioned industries the town is additionally known for its craftsmanship, e.g. the production of handmade quality goods such as guitars, pottery, board games and other products made of wood.
Granada is about 140 km from Malaga City, so why not take a shuttle bus from Malaga Airport to Granada in order to save time and money?
