The big resort is famous for its 10km long coastline with intensive developments of apartments and Fuengirola hotels, many of them high buildings that form the typical concrete jungle. Fuengirola shelters a large community of foreigners, e.g. Britons, Irish, Scandinavians and Germans, who often hibernate on the Costa del Sol, but the town itself is also quite popular with travellers from abroad due to its convenient position in the most touristic area.

Fuengirola disposes of high-quality beaches and an impressive, never-ending beach promenade, the so-called Paseo Marítimo. Its central point is the marina, from where one can take part in a selection of watersports. Additionally, the town offers a great deal of international restaurants, bars and cafes to suit every taste and pocket, so that Fuengirola might not seem like a typical Spanish town at first sight. In the southwest of the locality next to the shore, visitors can climb up the Moorish castle of Sohail from where they have an amazing view over the city and the mountains in the background. Other interesting places to visit are the zoo, which is quite originally designed, as well as the local water park. Fuengirola is especially popular with golfers thanks to its access to a wide selection of courses.

If you consider passing your holidays in Fuengirola, why don’t you use a shuttle bus from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola? This might be a much more comfortable way to get you to your destination.
